  1. Follow all guidelines laid down by the English Basketball Association and the club, and hold appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.

  1. Encourage players to value their performances and not just results.

  1. Encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

  1. Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.

  1. Discourage unfair play, arguing with officials, and publicly accept officials' judgements.

  1. Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.

  1. Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.

  1. Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.

  1. Encourage and guide your child to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

Spectators Code of Conduct

1.    Respect the officials' decisions, even if they appear to be a mistake - remember, they are volunteers proving an opportunity for players to play basketball.

2.    Acknowledge good individual and team performance from all players irrespective of the team in which they play, and acknowledge effort and good performance rather than 'to win at all costs'.

3.    Verbally encourage all players in a positive manner, shouting 'for' not 'at' the players.

4.    Never verbally abuse players, coaches, match officials or fellow spectators: such behaviour can create a negative environment for players and their behaviour will often reflect this.

Disciplinary Procedure when Codes are Contravened

Any misconduct will be addressed by the immediate Coach/Official, and should it be deemed necessary the Coach/Official has the right to remove any individual from the session/match.
