Child Protection & Vulnerable Adult Policy
Dover Pirates Basketball Club has a duty of care to safeguard all children and vulnerable adults involved in club activities, protecting them from harm.
Definitions;
- A child is defined as a person under the age of 18.
- A vulnerable adult if defined as a person who is aged 18 years or older and is; 1) living in accommodation such as a care home, a residential special school, sheltered housing or in receipt of domiciliary care in his or her own home,
2) receiving health care and/or welfare service,
3) requires assistance in the conduct of his or her own affairs.
Dover Pirates Basketball Club aims to;
- Provide children and vulnerable adults with a safe environment where they can enjoy the game of basketball and all social aspects surrounding the club.
- Send all appropriate personnel (i.e. coaches, officials and volunteers) on the Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course and the Emergency First Aid Course organised by Sports Coach UK
- Ensure that all appropriate personnel are CRB checked and evidence of their identity is checked.
- Ensure that all appropriate personnel follow the EBBA guidelines on Good Practice.
- Ensure that all personnel report and record all incidents and accidents.
- Ensure that all personnel respond to allegations and or suspicious inline with the English Basketball Associations’ guidance.
